ABOUT VOLUNTEERINGWe are a volunteer organization and could not operate without the generous support of so many parents, grandparents, and community members.
There are a number of areas you can help Scarborough Little League and no prior knowledge of baseball or softball is needed! We also provide training for many areas including coaching, umpiring, field help, and more.
Remember if you are busy, we can use your help in many ways and it doesn't have to be for hours each day! Even just helping once a season at the Snack Shack during a game is a huge help to all our Scarborough families.
Below are some examples of help we need every season:
HEAD COACHOur Head Coaches lead the teams, plann practices, teach skills, and most importantly ensure players grow their love for the game. They set the tone for teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun while guiding the team through the season.
ASSISTANT COACHAssistant Coaches work alongside the Head Coach to support practices and games. They help teach fundamentals, encourage players, and keep practices and games running smoothly. Some Assistant Coaches might go on to be Head Coaches but many just love helping spend time coaching their kids and their friends play ball.
TEAM PARENT / DUGOUT PARENTThese parents are essential for team organization, and especially with our super fun young ages at T-Ball, A baseball, and Farm Softball! They can help with communication, coordinate snacks, keep dugouts running smoothly during games (very helpful with the little kids!!), and ensure players are focused and ready to play.
UMPIREUmpires are crucial for a fair and safe game. They make calls on plays, enforce the rules, and ensure everyone has a fun and positive experience.
Remember not everyone needs to be an umpire behind home plate. We would LOVE to have more base umpires that umpire in the field. That is a great way to help during games and get the best view of the action on the field.
Umpire training is available!
CONCESSIONS (AT PETERSON FIELD)Concessions Volunteers create a welcoming atmosphere by serving snacks, drinks, and treats to fans and players. Proceeds support league activities and improvements.
FIELD PREPARATION / MAINTENANCEThis team ensures our fields are game-ready by lining fields, raking dirt, and maintaining equipment. Their work keeps our facilities safe, clean, and enjoyable for all.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / MUSICVolunteers in this role enhance the game-day experience by announcing players, providing updates, and playing music to keep the crowd energized and engaged. Plus, you get to make sure your kids hear all your favorite songs from the 1990s and 2000s.
GENERAL HELPNot sure where you fit but know you want to help? We always need extra hands for a variety of tasks! From helping with events to assisting on game days, your support ensures everything runs smoothly.
